February saw us cautiously returning to normal with members participating in our usual activities of cards, dining experience at Cantucci’s Westleigh, trivia and monthly morning tea. It was also good to be back at the Mount Colah Uniting Church for our General Meeting with a very interesting guest speaker from Easy Care Gardening.
In March we had our Annual General Meeting and saw a few changes to our management committee. We also celebrated our third anniversary with a lunch at Pennant Hills Bowling Club. Unfortunately our monthly amble and a day at Gosford Races were both cancelled due to the poor weather.
Members participated in a dining experience at Tandoori and Curry Club Hornsby and showtime events including the Dusty Springfield Tribute Show, Holiday Inn by Irving Berlin and John Paul Young at Hornsby RSL Club during April. Our outing for the month was a trip on The Riverboat Postman on a glorious sunny day. A most enjoyable outing which included a very pleasant plowman’s lunch on board the ferry.
During May a small group enjoyed a dining experience at Joyful House in Hornsby Westfield, and a large number of members had a very enjoyable morning tea at Brewhaha, also in Hornsby. Our May outing involved about 30 members and guests participating in a drive to historic Morpeth near Maitland. After looking around the town we enjoyed lunch at Common Grounds in High St. The setting was perfect on such a beautiful day overlooking the river with views to the bridge and beyond. The service and food were exceptional and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Jim Haynes was our guest speaker at our June meeting. Jim’s talk looked at the truth behind some of our most commonly believed Aussie myths and he shared some of Australia’s oddest and most amazing true stories. All those attending greatly enjoyed his talk which put a smile on all our faces. In additional to our usual activities of cards, trivia and morning tea, one of our members kindly demonstrated the art of papier mache. A large group attending the Baha’i Temple at Ingleside. Although many members had lived in Sydney all their lives and driven past it numerous times on their way to the northern beaches, they had not taken the time out to look at the Temple and wonderful gardens surrounding it. An introductory talk from two members of the Baha’i faith was extremely interesting and they answered the many questions raised by those attending. We then headed to the Terry Hills Tavern for an enjoyable and relaxed lunch before heading home.
