We reflect on what we have achieved as a small group over our first three months.
In April, about 10 members headed to the city for our first club outing. We enjoyed a relaxing morning looking around the ANZAC Memorial in Hyde Park. After lunch, those interested, walked to the A4 Centre for Contemporary Asian Art. Although the gallery wasn’t quite what we expected, it did provide inspiration for some of the group to attend a nearby ‘happy hour’. What a great way to get to know other members.
In May we had our first lunch at The Great North Café Cowan. About 18, including three guests, enjoyed getting to know their fellow members over a very relaxing and enjoyable lunch. Next was our first monthly morning tea at the Ladybird Café in Mount Colah. We had another great turn out with about 12 members enjoying a rather long chat over tea and coffee. To end the month about 16 of us went on ‘A History and Heritage Ferry Tour of the Hawkesbury River’. We enjoyed a most knowledgeable commentary by Peter Rea while touring the historical sites of the vast Hawkesbury River.
We have made great progress, particularly for a small group, and have a lot more planned. Our next meeting is on 9 July 2019, and our guest speaker will be talking about the NorthConnex tunnel linking the M1 to the M2.
