With the further easing of COVID-19 restrictions, and thankfully only a few locally acquired cases, we resumed both evening and afternoon cards activities. This was welcomed by those who were missing the social and fun nature of our card games.
Our guest speaker for our monthly meeting was Rev Nich Cole from Mount Colah Uniting Church. Nich very kindly stepped in at the last minute when our scheduled speaker cancelled due to ill health. Nich spoke about his background and career path to becoming a Uniting Church minister and his role as Second Chaplain with the NSW Rural Fire Service. He fielded a wide variety of questions from members. He also spoke about the importance of keeping people connected and commended clubs such as ours as an excellent way to achieve this.
Earlier in the month we held a Picnic and Games Day at McKell Park, Brooklyn. Putting, croquet and boules competitions were held and members had a great time. Later in the month 15 members and friends enjoyed a 45 minute ferry tour of Pittwater. This included stops at Bennetts, Bonnie Doon, The Basin, Currawong Beach and Mackerel Beach wharves before returning to Palm Beach. This was followed by lunch at Club Palm Beach. Lunch was most enjoyable. There was time to chat in an extremely peaceful and relaxing environment. We were very well looked after by Club staff.
The Amblers walking group met at Thornleigh Park and took the City View Lookout walk. It is a pleasant and quite easy walk with the highlight being the amazing view across to the city.
