October was another busy month for the club starting with a very enjoyable and casual lunch at Pie in the Sky, Cowan. The weather was perfect for being outside, but still protected from the sun. The month’s bushwalk took in part of the Blue Gum walk in the Hornsby Valley. We introduced a second morning tea to allow members who are not able to attend our regular morning tea to catch up over a relaxed cup of tea or coffee. This month we headed to the Bobbin Inn Cafe at Bobbin Head. Although it was a bit overcast and at times a few drops of rain, we still enjoyed a great morning tea and chat. We all took a walk to the boardwalk to find part of it underwater due to the very high tides being experienced.

For our major outing members car pooled to the Penrith Regional Gallery. After looking around the excellent exhibition, lunch was enjoyed at the associated Cafe at Lewers. It was then on to the Museum of Fire.

Our regular morning tea was enjoyed at Asquith Golf Club. A new activity started this month which we call the Ambers. Our first amble was around Fagan Park at Galston. Many members hadn’t been to the park since around the time it opened in 1988. The weather was perfect. We took a picnic style morning tea break under a large shelter in the park. There are many different gardens within the park and although we didn’t get to see them all, those we saw were most impressive. It leaves an opportunity for us to go back again to see the rest. As it was lunchtime by the time we finished, some of group headed to the Sugar and Salt Cafe in Galston for lunch.

In early November a group headed to CoHo Berowra for a Melbourne Cup Lunch. The food was excellent and again it was a great opportunity to catch up with fellow members. At our next meeting we will be learning more about Seniors Safety from Crime Prevention, Hornsby Police. Later in the month we head to the Central Coast to explore some more wonderful gardens and have lunch at a nearby cafe. Something for us to look forward to.
